The Midwives Alliance of North America just published its studies on 'statistical outcomes' of Home Birth
“Outcomes
of Care for 16,924 Planned Home Births in the United States: The
Midwives Alliance of North America Statistics Project, 2004 to 2009“.
in the Journal of Midwifery and Women's Health, and Lamaze
International's blog 'Science and Sensibility' asked me to write
something about home birth and risk. The comments, no surprise, quickly
veered off into stuff about selfish mothers risking their babies
lives to have scented-candle-births, and people shouting statistics of
risk at each other.
Oh well....
